ARE YOU HAVING A HARD TIME COPING WITH DAILY STRESS AND ANXIETY?

ARE YOU STUCK IN A VICIOUS CYCLE IN ONE OR MORE ASPECTS OF YOUR LIFE?

If this sounds like you, keep reading:
By all means, stress is a normal human psychophysiological response to both positive and negative experiences in your life. However, it’s how you go about dealing with stress that is important, and here are  the most common 5 mistakes you may be making.

1. You look for quick fix solutions or avoid dealing with your issues altogether.

You may feel more relaxed immediately after a weekend getaway, a day out shopping, binge-watching your favourite TV show, or a night out with friends, but most likely the positive effect will be short-lived. Not to mention that if your way of coping with stress is through toxic practices such as, smoking, overeating or drinking alcohol (which is basically a way to avoid dealing with your issues),  you’ll  probably feel much worse afterwards, and long term, most likely end up with health issues.

2.You are only focused on changing the external circumstances.

Don’t get me wrong, I am definitely an advocate of making changes in life that will lead your towards a better work/ life balance, loving relationships and overall happiness. (I mean, I changed jobs and moved continents several times, before I found true fulfillment !:))
However, some circumstances are beyond our control, such as losing a loved one, being laid off, having a highly stressful job, illness, and the list goes on. And as is the nature of life, there will always be something throwing you off balance. So if you are waiting for something to change in your enviroment in order to relax and feel better , your whole life may pass by without reaching those perfect circumstances.

3.You are not seeing the bigger picture.

As mentioned previously, there are definitely specific situations that can trigger a strong stress response. However, if you really think about your life experiences, you may notice a pattern in your reactions. Some of these reactions can be traced to your childhood experience, your parents’ behaviours, as well as the information your picked up from your social environment.  From the moment you were born, your nervous system was affected by your own experiences as well as of those surrounding you. These influences can be referred to as converging histories.
Genetics, events in your life, decisions you’ve made, food you’ve eaten, sports you’ve played, family trauma, etc. all fall into the category of converging histories, i.e. information and energy stored in your body. So if you were wondering how come you get so anxious over the smallest things and your partner or friends don’t, you have to take into consideration all these influences.

4. Your are trying to cope with stress only on one level.

Although this is already much better than looking for the quick fix or avoiding to deal with your isses, when you only deal with stress from one angle, it’s usually not enough to create a sustainble shift in your nervous system. For example, going to the gym, and in general being physically active are  huge game changers when it comes to releasing stress, however if you don’t also take the time to understand your emotions and how they connect to your relationships, core beliefs and your past experiences, you may slip into bypassing the deeper meaning of your stress.
On the other hand, if you only analyse your thought patterns, without some form of consistent physical practice, you may get even more stuck in your head and stressed out (also known as analysis paralysis).
Your unprocessed emotions and pent up stress may affect your posture, tissues, breath and overall physical wellbeing, as well as your self-esteem, personal and professional relationships.
This is why stress management is a matter of integrating PHYSICAL, MENTAL, and EMOTIONAL wellbeing

5. You think you need to deal with everything alone

Maybe you are too proud to admit you need support, or simply used to dealing problems all by yourself, but we all need help at times. Living with stress is already hard enough, and trying to show your weaknesses to others, only adds more pressure in your life.  You may feel like you are stuck on your own, but rest assured that there are so many people who feel exactly like you , and there is nothing as powerful as being able to share how you feel in a supportive environment.
Throughout my own experience as well as working with clients, I witnessed how a regular yoga practice in combination with systemic coaching could transform our mindset for the better, help us deal with life’s challenges, and reduce stress, sustainably.  And that’s exactly why I’ve launched the “Progressive Balance Program”…

A YOGA & SYSTEMIC COACHING PROGRAM THAT WILL TEACH YOU HOW TO  RESET YOUR MIND, COPE WITH STRESS, MANAGE YOUR EMOTIONS, RESOLVE CONFLICTS, AND TRAIN YOUR BODY
